A former care worker is getting a new lease of life and renewed independence- thanks to her toilet.
Barbara West, 54, has, among other ailments, acute arthritis, to the extent she cannot use her arms. Her local Council has had a Closomat Palma Vita automatic “wash and dry” toilet installed in her flat, replacing a bolt-on shower unit/ seat.
“The bolt-on unit seat kept breaking; I had three seats in three years! The Closomat is lovely. The seat is very comfortable. Even with my arthritis, it is still easy to flush and operate. I feel clean afterwards,” said Barbara. “It gives me more independence and I haven’t got to worry as I can go to the toilet whenever I like. And my carer and other visitors can use it too. I wish I’d had the Closomat a long time ago!”
The Palma Vita looks like – and can be used as – a conventional WC but additionally has in-built douching and drying, simply triggered by retaining elbow or body pressure on the flush pads. By contrast, a bolt-on unit incorporates the spray mechanism as part of the seat and is simply bolted onto a standard WC, over its pan; control is via push-button.
The Closomat Palma Vita is the only automatic wash and dry toilet developed specifically for disabled people. Simply retaining pressure on the flush pad triggers simultaneous flushing and warm water washing, followed by warm air drying. Thus the need for manual cleaning with toilet tissue, and hand: body contact, for user or carer, is eliminated, improving hygiene, cleanliness, and the user’s dignity and independence.
A range of accessories enables the toilet to be tailored to individual user requirements, either at point of- purchase, or retro-fitted as user’s needs change.
Closomat is the first choice for disabled people and their carers, to deliver quality, easy to use toileting solutions that bring greater independence, dignity and hygiene.
