With the NHS reporting that over half of all 80-year-olds in the UK have a fall of some sort each year, it’s a topic that cannot be overlooked.
And with 1 in 3 over 65’s also experiencing falls in the same period, learning lessons early is key.
The bulk of all falls in our elderly population occur in the bathroom and toilet areas – but why?
Our bathrooms and toilet areas rarely change position or orientation, merely get redecorated. But what if we planned out the journey of an older person through the bathroom and moved the fixtures and fittings accordingly?
In this webinar, The OT Service explores the cause and consequences of falls in older people and how to mitigate them using smart bathroom design.
“We all have or had older parents or grandparents and probably experienced them taking a tumble or at the very least struggling to navigate their way around the bathroom. Dealing with issues surrounding the older generation is a topic we can all relate to.”
