Closomat helped leading supermarket chain, Morrisons plc, add an additional four Changing Places to its accessible customer toilet provision.

The new facilities have been supplied and installed by Closomat at the Cheltenham, Starbeck (Harrogate), Festival Park (Stoke on Trent) and Little Clacton (Clacton on Sea) stores, taking the total number of facilities in Morrisons across the UK to 10.

The Changing Places toilets feature more space than a standard accessible toilet (12m²), to accommodate the user and their carer(s), plus a height-adjustable washbasin, ceiling-tracking hoist, adult-sized changing bench, peninsular WC with space for carers either side and a privacy screen. The additional space and equipment in these facilities ensures disabled customers with complex needs and their carers have safe access to a toilet when shopping, enabling them to stay longer in store and feel confident and comfortable when doing so.

Faith Martin is 20 years old and has Cerebral Palsy. She requires the use of Changing Places toilets when away from home. She said:

Being able to use a toilet when shopping, is something many of us take for granted. But for those who need extra support when accessing the toilet, the location of suitable facilities very much defines your choice of supermarket. The Changing Places toilets that Morrisons stores are providing make a big difference to local disabled customers and to those in the wider community.
