The UK’s top events destination, the NEC in Birmingham, has become even more accessible, with the opening of its latest Changing Places facility.

The facility mirrors the organisation’s commitment to making attending events accessible for all: it has been designed to meet the highest standards possible, even replacing a conventional toilet with a Palma Vita wash and dry WC, complete with touch sensitive hand switch.

We have supplied and installed the Changing Places, located outside Hall 2. It compliments the NEC’s existing Changing Places (which we also supplied, and which are also to full British Standard) outside Hall 20 and inside the neighbouring Resorts World Arena. It means that Changing Places are now within easy reach, wherever you are within the 20 halls and 611 acres of the NEC Campus.

‘The NEC welcomes 2.4million visitors and hosts 500 events every year- including Naidex, which is Europe’s most established event dedicated to the independent living and healthcare industries,” explained the NEC’s Senior Event Manager Julie Kimpton, who chairs the venue’s Accessibility Operations Committee.

As a venue, we are constantly evolving, and are determined to optimise our facilities to meet, and surpass, the needs of events and visitors alike. The Changing Places outside Hall 2 means that people who need the extra resources such a facility brings them can be assured that there is an enhanced accessible toilet facility within a practical distance.
